INTRACYTOPLASMIC SPERM INJECTION (ICSI)

It is a process by which the egg is fertilised by injecting a single sperm in the cytoplasm. Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is the most successful form of IVF treatment for men who are infertile and is used in nearly half of all IVF treatments (HFEA, 2010). It is also an option be used where eggs cannot be penetrated easily by sperm.

Indications of ICSI:

• Repeated IVF failure
• Azoospermia
• Severe oligoasthenoteratozoospermia
