Some couples are infertile because the woman is unable to produce egg.. For those couples, IVF using donated eggs offers their only chance of achieving a pregnancy. This process is also applicable for those woman who are carrying a genetic disorder.
Indications:
- Poor development of ovary
- Premature menopause or ovarian failure
- May have undergone surgery or chemotherapy
The Process:
The donated eggs are fertilised by the recipient’s partner’s semen (or with donor semen) and the couple are given the chance of having a healthy child. As with egg donors, recipients are tested for HIV, Hepatitis B and C, Gonorrhoea, Chlamydia and CMV. Donors are selected on the basis of physical investigations, medical tests, past history and under proper scrutiny of doctor and counselor.
